The Remix: Simbad’s reworking of Sonarpilot’s Osaka on EP1 takes the listener on a deep, cosmic voyage with 4/4 tribal drums, off kilter pads and twisted chords that build gradually over a full eight minutes. The track and its accompanying dub mix worked its way onto the dance floors of clubs worldwide.

Artist Profile: Based in east London, French musician and studio producer Simbad has over the past ten years built a solid reputation for quality electronic music defying simple genres. In the mid to late nougties, his debut album Supersonic Revolution surfaced on the excellent Raw Fusion label, the album became something of a benchmark record on the emerging alternative beats scene, for the best part, thanks to cuts like Soul Fever and DNA Metamorphosis. Simbad’s discography is vast thanks to the varied cross genre collaborations he has made on his own, with friends and with fellow producers alike. He has produced under names such as Marathon Man, Loose Ensemble, Les Barons, Mowgly and Twitch over the years and his name has been woven deeply into the legendary West London Broken Beat scene, his self labelled ‘booty’ style of production, influenced by dancehall and hip hop especially making an impact.
